Back in August I ventured into an attempt to put together a B.O.B. Kit (Part 1), or emergency kit, specifically for the sole purpose of having a few bare essentials when traveling across the state in areas with vast expanses of open land and minimal cities, gas stations, etc. along the way. The objective was to put together a simple, light weight kit I could carry long distances should I get stranded somewhere along the highway.
A strong secondary objective however was to some how make a kit I could incorporate into a day pack for hikes and other such outings. Long term objective is to go on a weekend outing with me and the dogs but I’m taking small, calculated steps to get there. First was the B.O.B. Kit. Next will be a competent day pack and at the same time several months of training and weight loss.
So, my kit currently consists of the following items.
First, the bag is a Skyline 8.0 from Outdoor Products
In it I have my B.O.B. Kit, a rain suit, a Marksman slingshot with steel bearings and a quick conversion kit to turn it into a sling bow. I also have some arrows for the sling bow or in case I’m able to make a competent recurve in the wild. I also have some extra field tip arrows, camo colored string I can use for a bowstring as well. In addition to this I have some orange climbing rope, a hardshell notepad and construction pencil, 2 blow up camping pillows with tempurpedic foam on one side and a machete. There are a few other things in the pack but that is the bulk of it.
I still have a few items to find but this is where it stands at this point.
